The AJ Awards 2021

The four Judges of the AJ Best Cultural Building 2021:

  • Fergus Connolly, co-founder, Connolly Wellingham Architects

  • Yuli Cadney-Toh, director, Kay Elliott

  • Chris Boyce, founding director, Assorted Skills + Talents*

  • Shankari Raj, founder, Nudge Group

This year Chris was invited by the Architects Journal to once again be a judge for the category of Cultural building of the year. After initial visits to the various contenders across the UK, he and his fellow judges debated at length the attributes of each entrant and eventually made some difficult choices and settled on the winner.

On Wednesday 17th November the winner of this category and all other AJ finalists were announced at the reception held at the Grosvenor Hotel in Mayfair.

He was delighted to be asked to present the award on stage to the much deserving Stephenson Hamilton Risley STUDIO and enjoyed a wonderful evening seeing many old friends, associates and colleagues from the architectural sphere – the first real event since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

AST*/Chris and his fellow judges from Connoly Wellingham, Kay Elliot and Nudge Group congratulate them for the wonderful work on The Oglesby Centre at Hallé St Peter’s and wish them many more future successes!
