Cardross; A Scottish tragedy

Chris Boyce our practice Founder has written an article expressing his outrage at the appalling state of Cardross Seminary, a modernist masterpiece by Gillespie Kidd + Coia. Chris was a student of architecture at Glasgow School of Art in the mid 1990’s where he was taught by RIBA Gold Medal winners Andy MacMillan and Isi Metzstein, who in the mid 1960’s designed and executed one of Scotland’s most important early “brutalist” buildings for the Roman Catholic church, now in ruins the building was a direct contemporary of Le Corbusier’s La Tourette Seminary, in Lyon France.
